Fighting for consumers in a system designed to ignore them

Consumer Litigation Associates is a plaintiff-side consumer protection law firm with more than 30 years of experience holding credit bureaus, furnishers, and debt collectors accountable under the FCRA.

Why we do this work

Identity theft doesn't just damage credit scores β€” it derails lives. People lose jobs, get denied housing, pay higher interest rates, and spend months or years trying to fix problems they didn't create.

The Fair Credit Reporting Act was supposed to protect consumers. It requires bureaus and furnishers to investigate disputes and correct inaccurate information. But too often, "investigation" means a cursory computer match that rubber-stamps the original error.

When the system fails, the FCRA provides a remedy: the right to sue for damages. That's where we come in. We take cases where bureaus or furnishers violated the law, and we pursue compensation for the harm they caused.

We handle cases involving:

  • Credit-report identity theft
  • Mixed files (your report merged with someone else's)
  • Failure to investigate disputes
  • Re-insertion of deleted information
  • Furnisher reporting violations
  • Improper use of credit reports
  • Mortgage servicing errors (RESPA / Reg X)
  • Fair Debt Collection Practices Act violations

How we approach every case

Consumer-First Advocacy

We represent individuals, never credit bureaus or furnishers. Our loyalty is always to the people harmed by a broken system.

Know the Law Cold

The FCRA is complex. We study every case, every regulation, every emerging tactic the bureaus use to deny responsibility.

Documentation Obsession

Cases are won with paper trails. We help clients build ironclad records before and during litigation.

Accessible Guidance

Legal jargon helps no one. We explain your rights and options in plain language so you can make informed decisions.

What to expect when you contact us

1

Free Case Review

Tell us what happened. We'll review your situation and let you know whether you have a viable FCRA claim. No cost, no obligation.

2

Document collection

If you have a case, we'll help you gather the evidence: dispute letters, certified-mail receipts, credit reports, and any other documentation.

3

Pursue your claim

We handle the legal work on contingency β€” you pay nothing unless we recover compensation for you. The FCRA also allows recovery of attorney's fees.

Why there's no cost to you

Congress designed the FCRA to encourage private enforcement. When you win an FCRA case, the defendant pays your attorney's fees on top of your damages. This means we can take cases on contingency with zero out-of-pocket cost to you.

We only get paid if you get paid. Our interests are aligned with yours: pursue the strongest possible case and maximize your recovery.
